Bar Council of India: no advertisement or solicitation
Rule 36 of the Bar Council of India Rules (Chapter II, Part VI, Section IV) prohibits an advocate from soliciting work or advertising, directly or indirectly. The proviso introduced in 2008 permits an advocate to furnish, on a website, factual particulars including name, address and contact details, enrolment particulars, professional and academic qualifications, and the areas in which the advocate practises.
This website is published within those limits. Accordingly:
- nothing on this website is an advertisement, personal communication, solicitation, invitation or inducement to solicit work through this website;
- no claim is made about the quality of the services offered, about comparative standing, or about the outcome of any matter;
- no testimonials, endorsements, ratings or client names are published;
- a visitor who reads this website does so of their own accord and of their own volition, and any use of the information here is entirely at the visitor's own risk.
